If your still trying to figure it out, try this. Go to doom9.net and in the Downloads section get Dvd Decrypter and Xmpeg. Use Dvd Decrypter to rip the Dvds and Xmpeg to encode them to avi or use a plug-in for mpeg. Hope that is of any use.
Also, on the behalf of the "newbies", if you don't like "newbies" or don't want to help them, simply don't reply. And always remember that at one point in time, you were one too.

Damn newbies. Bakas. ErMaC's way of ripping a DVD is the ONLY way to get PERFECT quality, EG the same quality as the DVD.

God NicholasDWolfwood, I'm only giving an alternate way of ripping. The way I do it works for me, and Ermacs way is the only. And if your reffering to me as a newbie, let me be the first to tell you I'm not. As I said before, at one time we were all newbies. GOT IT!

Did you even read what I said? I said ErMaC's way is the ONLY WAY TO GET PERFECT QUALITY! If you use ErMaC's way and then you encode the final video to MPEG and burn it to a DVD, you would NOT notice any quality difference between the DVD you burnt that has the video on it and the DVD(s) that have the anime you used on them.

I'm not trying to start a war or anything. All I'm saying is that I don't rip and encode the way Ermac does it and I can't see a difference in quality between the dvd and the file that is produced. And sorry if I have offended you or something.

Personally, I use DVDx and output the needed scenes to Huffyuv codec. Beautiful quality and I can open it in any software I feel like using.
