DVD screen capture

Postby RyanGlazner » Sun Aug 18, 2002 10:19 pm

I'm not sure whether this should go here in the Vid Software forum or the Off-topic forum... it is software, and it has to do with video a bit, but not videos.

I'm looking to capture DVD screens (for avatars and such), and Paraben Screen Capture 4 used to work just fine for this. A day or two ago, I installed Win 2k on my system (reformatting the hard drive in the process), losing the program and all its settings. Now, I re-downloaded the program and got the register key working, but the settings I thought I had before don't work now. Can someone help me out with this (proper settings and such), or give a good alternative?

what video editing software do you use? I know premiere has an export frame option, and would assume that most other programs have the same...

Hmm... yeah, I could do that...

It just seems like the long way to do things. Before I upgraded Windows, I had the ability to capture DVD screens with one key-press. Just seems like I should be able to here as well.

if you're looking to just capture screens most DVD software players like WinDVD have a feature where you can just capture a frame.

if the image you're looking for is like only on a few frames, then rip the footage you want then import via VirtualDub. You can just navigate through the vid and hit alt + the print screen key.

then you can just import that into Photoshop or whatever. that's the way i do it. it's easy and very time-efficient. (dont worry about the picture losing quality when it's in VirtualDub cause if you're gonna use it for just avatars then it won't really matter, plus i dont think that VDub loses THAT much quality anyway).

Eeeeh. That was incredibly dumb (of me). The DVD player had built-in screen capture, just like you said ~_~ *smacks forehead*
