Another Windows Movie Maker Question

Postby ssjvegitto » Sat Aug 17, 2002 7:58 pm

I am making my 1st AMV , but whenever I try to save it into a movie, it only saves part of it. My AMV is about 3:20, and it only saves 1:31. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I looked in the index for possible answers and haven't found anything. And one last question is it possible to save different sounds for a movie clip, for example I want my first clip to have the audio that is already with video, but for the rest of it I want the audio to be the audio track. I hope that wasn't confusing. please reply

i had the same problem with all but two of my vids.

It is most likely corrupt source footage.

If it is something else and someone can tell us...looks like i may actually have to let people see some of my video's

The first problem does sound like corrupt source footage or WMM just being goofy. I'd defrag and try again. Make sure not to be using Divx footage as part of your source, as it may be what's hanging up your encode to WMV. The second problem is a toughie since WMM (at least the ME version) only has one sound control from Video to Audio, thus if you choose one track, the other gets lost and if you set it half and half, it stays that way for the entire video. :( My advice would be to play with the volume settings and see if maybe setting the control to 3/4 Music audio over video audio keeps the video audio you want intact while still having good sound on the song audio. Man, I wish I still had WMM on my PC so I could just screenshot and show you. :(

I think his problem is that WMM suck0rz!!!!!!
I would doubt DivX footage is a good idea in WMM.
I don't have much experience with WMM... -thank Menchi
*coff* Defrag is probably not going to help, as tho it rearranges the data on your hard drive, it does it in away so that none of the file contents are changed. Scandisk or chkdsk would probably be the way to go, just to see if there are errors on the disk, I would doubt it.

If you're using divx footage, look for a program called "divfix" and run your files through it and see what happens, of course doing that may change something in the file that makes it A) not work @ all with WMM or B) become "un-synched" with your other footage.

So

You know when I first looked at WMM, I imported a clip and said, uhh now what do I do!?

When I launche Premiere it made more sense to me becuase I was like "okay I import clips here and there is all the timing info on the timeline and I have multiple tracks...". So Premiere clicked easier then WMM did.

I'm not using Divx footage, it is all avi with real player. And is there a program where I can make real player files in to something else, like avi or mpeg? I'll defrag and try again.
