editable compression for capture

Postby timbitdude » Mon Jul 29, 2002 7:02 pm

hi

i have a capture card and i have been captureing for quite a while but i have to delete some realy good shows because of my limited space (2.3gb) then it accured to me that i might be able to compress my shows and movies. i tried a few shows just for a test and one seemed to work so i compressed them all but now once again i have run out of space. i was wondering if there is someone who has limited space and captures who has a compression scheme that i can use. i looked in the guides and as far as i can tell DV is the way to go and i have sence been compressing to mjpeg 1. i checked tmpgenc and i cant find a way to compress to dv so if you can also tell of a program, if dv is infact the way to go, that can compress to dv.

thanks

Umm, have you considered burning some stuff off to CD to free up space?

I don't think you will save space with DV over mjpeg, quite possibly the opposite may happen.

Yes, a bigger hard drive would be good. Try www.pricewatch.com, you should find some great bargains there
