Not if you feel you can make do with Windows Movie Maker, Zwei Stein or whatever that other free editor was called, AVISynth, and/or VirtualDub(/Mod). And who knows what else is out there.
Some can and do, and I say more power to 'em.

Alternatively, you could switch to running Linux and learn how to use Cinelerra.

just a question can you separate the sound of a video (guess you can)
but what tool would be best :oops:

Like kinda creating a mp3 or something from the video? Well if that's what you mean you get movie maker 2 and drag the whole video you like and bump it in the Audio/ music place there, I forget but it's the second one there if you know what I mean? Very lovely.

I forgot that the quality of the song in the video is the same as the sound. Hope that helped. :P

Another free - as in no monetary outlay :P - editing package: Avid Free DV.

" Avid Free DV is feature-streamlined" - which means it's a crippled version of their full-scale software. There are some good video-based tutorials, however.
