Japanese Text Support in Adobe After Effects

Postby IkariShinjikun » Wed Jul 24, 2002 7:17 pm

I was just wondering where or how can you get to type Japanese text in after effects. I am using NJStar Communicator for typing the japanese then I try to enter the text into a text window and the text will never show up. I tried to input the text using it's special font, but that didn't even show up. Any help with this will be very valuable, thanks.

Dump it into Word first, then copy from word. The way NJStar works when it inputs text for some reason doesn't work in Photoshop, and this is how I've gotten around it before. I've never tried it in AE but if my suspicion is correct they probably all have the same issue.

Or just set your Locale in Win2K to Japan and use the MSIME =)

I have tried it this way too, and it still does not work. But I have gotten around the problem in Photoshop but not Premiere or After Effects... Do you think it might have to do something with language support packs to download or something? But on Adobe's site I cannot find any information on the subject...

Oh I just saw the Locale part, how do you go about changing that?

control panel -> regional options
set the first tab to japanese, then go to the last tab of input locales and add Japanese to it if it isn't automatically added.

Oh yea a word of warning - this is not for those who can't read japanese at all, because doing this will turn most of windows into Japanese and thus you may have trouble switching back if you can't read what everything is. ^_^

Ok thank you, I will try this right away. And I do know a fair amount of Japanese so I think I will be ok...
