Premiere... um, HELP!

Postby EBwiz » Sat Jun 29, 2002 7:51 am

Ok, so here's the story... I've been wanting to do Anime music videos for a while, just never knew much about how or what to use and all that, and for the longest time I was trying to get a new Windows to use the Windows Movie Maker. (Hey, let me finish before you flame me! Thanks.) Anyway, I learned it wasn't all that great from people on this site, but I did eventually get Windows XP... and I was surprised at how easy the program was to use. First time even using it, I finished my first Anime music video, which all in all, came out pretty awesome despite the diminished video and sound quality... the problem was, that the thing skips so much it's nearly inworkable, I don't know how my first one came out as good as it did. At first, I thought it was my processor, as a friend of mine said. (As far as equipment goes, I'm very much lacking. I'm using a 500 MHz K6-2, 2 10 Gig hard drives and 196 MB RAM) so I've been working on equipment before making any new videos. However, I later learned from my friend who also makes AMVs with Windows Movie Maker, that it wasn't my processor. It was in fact the XP version. It does the same thing it's doing on mine and he has a 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 with 256 MB RAM. So, evidently screwed, I got a copy of Abode Premiere, and... I'm completely lost with the program as to be expected. :P What I need from someone, anyone, is to point me out to a good tutorial of the program because the help file is no help. If anyone knows where I can get one, it'd be very much appreciated.

The problem here is that Premiere comes with a big thick manual and help file that explains alot.

Now it's quite possible that you have the trial version of their website, of course the more likely possibility is that it's a hax0red version.....

Anyways, I shall not point fingers.

I did make a guide for Premiere, which is no longer updated and incomplete, but it may help you out a bit.

lol... I admit it, it's h4x0red. :P Honestly, I hate pirating software, I really do. The problem is though, that Abode products are extremely expensive, especially for someone like me and for just using to make pet projects and hobbies such as AMVs... So don't hate me... too much. ^_^'

Pirate software is not condoned nor allowed here at this site. If you pirate software do not talk about it here, and do not expect help with software you did not buy.

I paid $500 for my DV500+ and it came with premiere. 2 good things for the price of one is the way I saw it. If i have to buy it so should everyone else who wants to use it.

Oh, and its User Guide is much better than any help file in my opinion.

ErMac did you pay 650 dollars for your premeire? Honestly?

We are using a program that is overpriceed by about 500% for use of non profit artistic expression. Call me a sinner but that aint half bad.

Some people don't have hundreds of dollars of disposable income to spend on a hobby, and to deny those people there artistic expression just because they don't have the money is bullshit. Why should only wealthy people be able to make AMV's?

I pirated my Adobe Premeire, After Affects, and Photoshop. Am I a bad person? Maybe. Do I have 1500 dollars to spend on all those programs?

The basics in premeire are really not that difficult. When you open it up you should see a timeline, a monitor, and a file window with bins in it. Right click on the bins and import your clips. Then drag those clips on to the timeline.

Use the razor tool found in the top left of the timeline to chop up your clips. Voila, you have a music video.

lol beowulf
so ermac, have CCE? Didya buy it? All it takes is a bit of typing and a click to find a $2000 program on kazaa, morpheus, edonkey, mirc, etc. Sad thing maybe, but is Photoshop really $499 better than PSP? I'm not trying to piss you off or give myself a bad (worse) name but this isn't Doom9 and I doubt the fbi is going to shut the forum down if someone mentions the above facts. Just because we're on a more organized forum dosent mean it has to go stiff assed.

And once again, its like the guy from Circuit City said, 'all the good stuff is illegal'

Dude, you can get it a lot cheaper than that. legitly too. If you can purchase software through a school/college you can get a nice student discount. And if you find a used one you can get it even cheaper.

A friend of mine got premiere 6.0 at his college's book store used. He got it (a legit version i remind you) for only $200.

Now that ain't bad :)

No that aint bad at all but "not bad" is still worlds outside of my budget limit. Even if I had a job, 200 would be a weeks pay. And I could only get it at 200 if I was in college which I would have to pay for myself.
