Newbie About Adobe Premiere Transitions

Can some please tell me how to make the "Cross Fade" Transition work right???(Using Adobe Premiere 6.0) And remeber I am a newbie to adobe i first used video wave 4 so you can understand why the transition thing is completely different... please help me :(

1. You should have two clips (one that is played first, then one that the first fades into with the transition). Put the first clip on the video 1A track (when you're editing in A/B editing). Make the clip shorter to make it end about where you want the transition to start.

2. Place the second clip on the 1B video track, below the 1A track. Start the video about where you want the clip to come in.

3. Make the two clips overlap each other on the timeline. In other words, make the second clip start before the first one ends.

4. Pick the cross fade transition from the transitions list.

5. Drag the transition to where the two clips are overlapping. Premiere should automatically make it so that the transition covers where the two clips are overlapping.

You now have a transition between your clips. You won't be able to see what the it looks like in the monitor window; you have to export the timeline first to see what it looks like.
