Hey there,
I use a pci express card (with 2 FireWire slots) on my laptop and an external harddrive with Firewire. Well at least I try.?? Windows 7 Ultimate x64 manages to recognize my external drive, but after copying some bigger files the data transfer speed dops to zero and I can't abort the copying process. So it's more or less stuck until I unplug my drive.
My FireWire interface consists of this PCI express card:

This is my external drive:

I know that the FireWire of the drive works, because I also tested it on my old computer (XP x86 SP2) who has built in FireWire. When I tested the card with Vista x86 I had the same issues. I also tried a different pci express card and got the same result.
What's wrong and how can I fix it?
Somewhere else a poster suggested to switch to the older "Legacy" driver for my pci express card. I tried it and also tried another one. I always got the same result. Though Legacy gives me a boost of 60MB/s before the Transfer breaks down.
