How to watch VCDs

Postby Chaos Angel » Thu Dec 26, 2002 11:28 am

I ordered the VCD's of This is Otakudom and DDR Project, Third Mix of off the Distro Center. However, I am having trouble watching them. None of the DVD players in my house will read them, and the only way I can watch it on my comp is to use Quicktime, which I do not want to do, because for some reason, whenever I watch something in quicktime, the video and the audio lose synch and I have to keep pausing it to re-synch it.

Is there some way I can modify my DVD player to accept VCD's, or do I need to go out and buy a VCD compliant DVD player?

Thanks in advance.

There should be a large .dat file on the CD ^_^. You can just drag that into Media Player.

VCDs are just MPEG1 files that conform to a VCD spec.

also checkout www.vcdhelp.com for lotsa useful info.

...and if you want it to be double-clickable, you can just change the file extension to .mpg from .dat, and it will have a nice media player icon, etc. :)
