photoshop and imageready are for creating and editing images.

Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 is the newest premiere release, for commercial uses mostly.

Adobe Premiere Elements, is a personal, simple version of Adobe Premiere, available for much less than the cost of Adobe Premiere Pro.

There are several other editors out there, Windows comes with Windows Movie Maker, which is a very basic editor, but it's a good tool to learn with when you first start editing / when you are looking for a better editing program.

I use Adobe Premiere 6.5 because I got it for free from the city when I was working on projects for them.
