They should be - VoodooPC markets gaming laptops built on the Centrino platform.

Also, why bother getting a G5 if Apple is starting the Intel switchover next year?

Gateway laptops aren't known for reliability.

I was in a Best Buy yesterday that had about a dozen demo and returned laptops on sale. Prices - even discounted - were so-so, but they were offering another 10% cut just to move them.

This will vary from store to store, but if one BB is clearing out old models, probably the rest of them are doing the same.

Buying demos can work well (I've done it on more than one occasion), but you need to push the sales people. There is almost always some part or parts missing, and I wouldn't buy an XP machine without the backup discs. Sometimes you can extract more of a price cut in exchange for the missing stuff.

Wow thanks for the good info on Best Buy. I'm sure I can push them around 8-) and I had no idea mac was switching to intels. *shrug* Guess I'll be waiting to get my mac desk top when they get intels :roll:
