I cannot operate DVD Decrypter. I am stuck on the last sentence on the second-to-last paragraph on page 4 of the WORKING WITH DVDS thing. How can I set the destination to a folder & a drive at the same time? I searched for "NTSF" & found it, but it is not a drive. How do I set NTSF as a destination when I can only select a folder?

Someone explain this in english.

OK.

This is where you are getting confused. Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the drive you're going to extract the DVD to, then select "Properties". Next to "File system" it should say "NTFS" rather than "FAT32". If it doesn't, find some drive on your system that is formatted as NTFS to use, or reformat an existing FAT32 partition as NTFS (note: this will usually destroy all data in that partition). Once you have a suitable target to extract to, you can decrypt the vobs to some random folder on that drive.

Post the entire error log here. In doing so, you'll provide necessary information, and you might just figure out the problem yourself.

There is no error message. I did all I could understand.

Can you click the little Windows Explorer button and select a folder?

OK I found out what was wrong & fixed it. Now another problem arises. The text below is taken directly from the guide.

""Download DVD2AVI from: http://arbor.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~jackei/dvd2avi/""

"http://arbor.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~jackei/dvd2avi/" doesn't lead anywhere online; it is not a site address. Anyone know where I can find this DVD2AVI thing?

Another question: All AVI files I have tried playing from a-m-v.org cannot play. Will this thing turn everything into AVI format? If so, this is all for nothing as my PC cannot play them somehow.

Forget the last post. I got through that. I unzipped VirtualDub-1.5.10[1] & nothing can be done; nothing will open & nothing happens when I right-click on them. Whatever it is, it is useless.

To solve your playback problems:

It's not the AVI format that's the problem; it's that you don't have the codecs that the videos use (or acceptable equivalents).

Sure, if you define "better off" as poor quality.

Valgaav wrote:This is all B*****IT!

No, it's the best way to get good quality.

Valgaav wrote:None of this is worth it.

On the contrary, most of us around here swear by it or some variation of it.

Read carefully and slowly. There are pictures, even.

Valgaav wrote:I'm done with ripping my own stuff.

Your video quality will suffer for it.

This is a very technically involved hobby. If you can't get the technical stuff down, everything past that is going to suck.

I'm sorry you all had to hear that. I was venting; something that got me banned from 3 previous anime forums. I will leave this alone until I don't feel murderous anymore, then return. Who knows, I COULD get this to work. ...but I doubt it. :(

Might not want to do so here regularly. It could cause problems.

You know, if you calm down and just look at this from the big picture, it's really not that hard. There's guides abound on this site to help you through all this.

By the way, there IS an error log in DVD Decrypter; don't ever tell me there isn't one. If you look in the program options, you will find one. I can't tell you where it is because I haven't memorized the location and I'm not on a Windows machine right now, but I know it exists, because I've seen it AND referred to it a few times to fix problems.
