Capture Card

Postby SuperFusion » Thu Oct 21, 2004 10:14 pm

I'm looking for a capture card. A REALLY good one. The capture card I borrowed from my friend doesen't rip the audio and the biggest resolution is 320X240. I was wondering if anyone can tell me a capture card that gets the audio as long as the video footage. And hopefully the one you recommend has a better resolution than this one. Any help? Checked the other threads but I didn't see anything about capture cards. :?

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago in the Harware forum, which is where this thread belongs.

That said, I'm partial to ATI's All-In-Wonder series, the current model being the 9800 Pro ($300). The earlier models that are still available are the 9600 and 9600XT ($200 and $220, respectively) and the 9000 Pro ($150). The X800 XT is due out soon, I don't know what price it will be.

Please note that the model numbers also correspond to ATI cards that don't have capture capability. If you decide to get one, make sure that it's an All-In-Wonder, not the standard card.

All current AIWs capture at least 720x480 (mine does, and it's two and a half years old) and also capture audio, as long as you have a sound card with a Line-In port.
