I know they are outdated, but what do people recommend VCRwise nowadays? SVHS is optional, but one with good image quality and svideo output would be nice.

I've got a couple of video projects that I'm working on for some friends which use VHS footage, and a VCR is the main way to get those captured and put into computer. Then end goal is obviously DVD, but I need something to take that first step.
i have a sharp vcr, but i dont realli see the difference in most vcrs that i capture from; except that the REALLI old ones give me nothing, not even static when i hook them up, must by the connectors
