I use XP, but I happen to have a copy of the ME version of wmm as well. And I'll ask again - what format are you trying ot produce the video to?
It does not just say wmv.
When you produce the video you click 'File' then you click 'save movie' and then you see the word 'setting' - and it gives you the option. No where on that page (if you use the default setting) does it say wmv. If you're using a strange version of wmm, let me know - because it sounds like you just aren't saving the video if you're not getting to the 'save movie' page.
Once you click 'files' and 'save movie' you pick the format you want to save the video to. The default will say 'Medium Quality (recommended)' - beneath that, it gives the bitrate 'Video for email and dual-channel ISDN (128Kbps)' - it doesn't say wmv anywhere yet.
But you wouldn't choose that option so it's not important. On the drop-down menu where it reads 'medium quality (recommended)' - click the little arrow pointing downward so the menu drops and you can see the other formats you can choose from. Click 'Other'. You'll be given 9 format options for the ME version of wmm - none of which are avi (my mistake there). You said you tried them all. Did you?
When you click on each, do you get that exact same error? Just that it can't produce the video? If so, do you still have all your source clips in the exact folder where you started out with them at? If you've moved or deleted or changed the name for even one clip (or the audio) then you can't produce the movie - because it won't be able to find the source. Check them - make sure it's all still there. Choose the highest setting you can - the 'Video for broadband NTSC (768 Kbps)' - it shouldn't be more than 30mbs total for the wmv file.
If it gives you the exact same error, then try reinstalling your wmm program - check the microsoft webpage if the player came already set on your computer.
One note - I don't edit with my ME version of wmm, but I did just produce a video made in the XP version of wmm (the project files work in either) and it went through fine. When do you get this error? Does it actually save the file, or does the error pop up right after you choose the folder to save the video in? Does the 'saving movie' box pop up at all, or just an error message?
