Hey,

I'm looking for a cheap (yet not utterly crappy in quality) DVD (re)-writer and a digital camera, can anybody help me?

Elaborate on "cheap."
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

As in, one of the cheaper DVD (re)-writes / digital cameras. I have no prices in my head, I just need a vague idea of what's out there.

You can get an HP DVD100i for about $300. It's a DVD+RW burner (Dunno what a DVD+RW media will hold though), and it burns conventional CD-R/RW media. Digital cameras you can get for about $300 and they should work half-way decent.

You probably don't want a +RW drive, as the -RW drives seem to be the prevalent standard.

What IS an +RW media anyways? What the hell does it hold?

+RW & -RW are different ways of doing the same thing, and they're competing as a standard.

This review of a Pioneer DVR-A04 DVD-RW drive tells you enough to get started on about the tech techs.

Thanks for the advice.

The -RW seems to be what I'm aiming for (combatibilty rather than speed). $239 for OEM is still pretty steep (hey I'm a poor student). Better wait a few months until the prizes drop...

They most likely won't drop. Hell, I think that if they do drop, they'll only drop $10-$20. Fuck, they already dropped down from $14,000-$20,000 to $300, so they most likely won't drop down anymore.
