The problem there bum, is if it is onboard he might not have an extra AGP slot. He might be in need of a PCI card, not an AGP one. So like... it's best he figure out what the hell he's looking at before he goes off and spends money on something he can't use...

Are all of the fans in your case working? Particularly the one on the processor and the video card if it has one.

yah they work fine. there isnt a fan on the videocard but there is one on the network card. there is a band that connects the video card and the network card which helps turn the power on and its torn i dont know if i can replace the band or if ill just have to replace the card completly. i guess ill have to give Dell a call about that.

Dude, seriously... GET A BOOK. On computers...

I don't know of any video cards that include a firewire port. I have no clue why you would need one. You don't need a specifically from DELL. But you need to know if you have an AGP slot that you can use. Can you physically take out the card you have in there @ the moment? Are you sure it's actually a vid card?

You still are really no closer to getting this solution fixed... And if you have an AGP slot open, then any AGP card out there should work for you. If you don't then you'll need to get a PCI video card and put it in or get the motherboard serviced because of the onboard video going out.

Some video cards perform better in 3D games than others. If you need reccomendations ask. But we can't give you any answeres unless we know if it's onboard or not.

Alot of capture cards have firewire on them. I'm thinking that he has gotten the idea of a run of the mill video card and a capture card mixed up somewhere.

Dude, do what both me AND Klinky have said and get a book on computer hardware. Its safer than going inside your comp with no knowledge, thereby voiding your warranty, and fucking something up.

One thing on my mind:

What in BLUE FUCK are these "band" things that you think are connected from your fucking NIC to video card?

You don't need to buy a video card from Dell, most of the time they're OEM ATI anyway (if not a nvidia card). Getting a regular ATI card from newegg or whatever and one of Dell is basically the same thing.

Warrenties...? Don't get me wrong. I don't personally care with my own computers but maybe this person doesn't want to void their warrenties by opening the case and changing things...

Not a clue, but I've never heard of a normal video card (without ViVo) having a firewire port, and usually the ones WITH ViVo have that all-in-one S-Video port that has the in/out cable adaptery thingy.... you get what I mean.
