pure MPEG2 editing

Post by Ashton » Sun Aug 18, 2002 2:14 am

Now, I'm not really sure about this one, but on the Adobe website they said that Premiere could edit MPEG2 directly (as in, without AVIsynth or anything) so long as you had a special MPEG2 card. I don't really know what they were talking about, do any of you? If so, can someone please give me an example of such a card, and maybe a brief description of how it works and it's price range?

The new Premiere 6.5 can. It's not really any faster then AVISynth tho  baka Adobe ;). Premiere 6, couldn't import directly. However, if you used a card like a Pinnacle DV500 or a DC1000 you could use it's software to bring mpeg2 video into Premiere or of course use AviSynth.

Keep in mind that either with Premiere 6.5 or something like a DC1000 you need to demux(splice out) the video stream(m2v) from the DVD .vob files before you could import.
