You don't "rip" a DVD with a DVD player, you capture it.
If you wish to rip a DVD, you'd need a DVD-ROM drive.
Depending on your settings, Macrovision may be an obstacle if youn capture. However, ripped footage is typically of higher quality, so you'd be better off simply getting a DVD-ROM drive (if you don't already have one) and pulling the footage directly off of the DVDs.
DVD-ROMs are cheap these days, you can get a high-quality Samsung or Toshiba for around $40.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."
