CD Burner install error

Postby Akashio » Tue Aug 12, 2003 9:52 am

I am trying to install my 8200e series HP CD Writer, but when ever I try and run the install disk, it says, "This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run." Now what the hell? I couldn't possibly not have 3MB of virtual memory left on my high-end system.

Is that an Install Floppy? Perhaps the program on there is dos based and since it doesn't find Himem loaded it can't allocate the memory it needs, my suggestion is to check HP's website for whatever the latest version of the drivers and software are, and download them from there for your Operating System.

Hammer + HP CD Writer + Bin + Trip to local computer store + Purchase of Liteon 52x24x52 Burner = Happy Akashio.

And once again, the universe is in balance.

Have you tried using Nero? Most CD burners are detected in the BIOS, and then the burning software handles the commands, without needing extra drivers.

Have you checked free-space? Have you checked your Page File settings? Maybe someone disabled them.

Kthulhu is right, the HP software is probably just basic writing software. You can try some other programs out like EZ CD, Nero, CDRWin or DiscJuggler.
