So I finally get my New PC up and wanted to start on my first Vid. I hook up my DVD player to the S Video Input with the S Video Composite Adapter. I tried to capture Video/Audio, but only the audio worked. So I tried to use my the Mic Port on my Motherboard to capture audio, but this time only audio was captured. I am using Pinnacle Studio 8 to capture. Also when I hook up my Cable to the Vid Card I don't get any audio from the feed. I do get audio from other sources just not the Cable.

Ok, you're just asking for a world of problems capturing DVD footage. And why do you need the sound? What you're doing should work though, so I am not sure waht's going on. Maybe you have your default recording device set to Line-in or What U Hear. Also s-video does not transmit any sound at all. It's a video only cable, you'd have to use the composite cables on the back and get a converter to the mini-plugs to get it into a line in.

That's besides the point, capturing through a capture card from non-analog source = bad idea. Read the guides and rip the DVD digitally. You can better quality and you don't have to deal with macrovision. I am pretty sure AIW has Macrovision enabled.

The only reason to capture these days is if you want to capture something off of a VCR or camcorder.

shadow-the-hedgehog, Klinky nail it - right on the head 8)

The 7200 I have uses the Audio In on the Yamaha sound card as Line-in and the Video Codec settings are best at Mpeg-2 direct to disc while the Composite-in is used for the Video.

The only issue I've run across has been that the ATI software doesn't seem to load correctly the first time you install it!

For my capturing of stuff, this combination works flawlessly 8)

Ah... I see. But I still would like to get sound from my CATV input though...

I'd check your manual and see how it suggests to hook up your audio cables. My ATI TV wonder has a cable going from it's audio-out into the line-in on my sblive. So I have to mute or unmute line-in to control the audio.
