Newbie Hardware Question

Postby KOS-MOS-FAN » Fri Aug 01, 2003 8:14 am

This is copied from the General boards...told me to move it :)

Say I wanted to make a video using footage from a game I own. What hardware would I need to get the FMV's from my TV screen to my computer for editing. I'm pretty sure what I need software wise..but hardware has me confused.

I know I need a capture device of some type, but what kind is best? This is for Xenosaga on the PS2 if that helps any, I just want to get some of the FMV's to my box w/out losing to much quality, then take em into an editing program to add music/effects to em.

I've watched alot of movies like this and it's really interested me, soooo I'd like to start this as a hobby! Thanks in advance.

P.S. I also may have access to a top of the line laptop soon...would having one equipped a certain way help with anything?

I know nothing about this, but you might try Quu's guide for game vids:

I haven't read through it all yet, but it looks like it might help some.
