I figure this goes under hardware because my theory is that my Premiere 6.0 does not seem to use my DV500 for decoding.
Here's the situation:
I use TREX (software that comes with DV500 to use it to hardware encode) to use the card to hardware encode my MPEG-2 files, from VOBs. They view fine in Windows, and i currently use MPEG-1s of thrice the size to edit with. Anyway, problem is, when I import them into Premiere, they will be black screened all the way (can play, but black all the way). The same goes for DV AVIs encoded with the DV500, I am able to view them on WMP without a synch.
I've tried everything from reinstalling my DV 500 drivers to Premiere and shifting the card slot, but Premiere cannot seem to view the MPEG-2 and DV files using the Pinnacle Codec. I've search out Adobe and Pinnaclesys websites but there are no posts about this problem. I can use Windows DV AVI and the DV500 can be used to do limited RT effects with it, but it can't access the very DV AVIs it records, which is quite spastic.
So my best bet is that Premiere is not using the DV500 card to 'decode' my files using the Pinnacle Codec. Which sucks because that's the whole point of having the card, so I can encode in hardware.
Please, if anyone has any idea how I can get it working? Thanks.
