USB hub question

Postby Phade » Sat Feb 15, 2003 9:11 am

Hey All,

I have this USB scanner that I've been switching back and forth between two computers. The question is: If I got a USB hub, would I be able to share the scanner between the two machines by hooking the scanner and two computers up to the hub? Or will that just not work?

Thanks in advance! ^_^

Phade.

Never tried that, but I don't belive it'll work. You can, however get USB diplexor that will do what your looking for. Problem, they tend to look gawdy. It's just a little gray box, usually with an (A,B,C,D) switch on the front, but for a few buck more I'm sure you can get an automatic version. I don't know where they're sold, but pricewatch is always a good starting point. Never personally Had a USB Diplexor, but I used to have a bunch of Parallel Diplexors. Keyword(s)- Used to.

I'm fairly certain what you're suggesting won't work, Phade.

USB is not designed to operate that way, from what I know about it.
