i want to redo some of my videos using dvd rips instead of captures but i am having a hard time deciding on which drive to get. i want a drive that does the following:
reads at 16x
is able to rip from protected dvds
can be firmware upgraded to be region free
the region free part isn't necessary but would be nice. any suggestions would be appreciated. if this question has been beaten to death before, please help me find a link to the discussion.
thanks!

Get an ASUS or a Toshiba drive, they're reliable and virtually all of them can be patched to be region-free.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

oh yeah, i forgot to add:wwf_htm wrote: reads at 16x

is able to read dvdr and/or dvdrw media
it sounds weird but i've read that many older drives do not have this ability...
