What mirko said. Best easy windows setup is MPC-HC with CCCP Beta 07.08.2010 and DivX7 for AVC decoding. VLC is unable to handle MKV properly, it cannot decode AVC properly, it breaks on transport streams and most program streams, and about the only thing it CAN do properly is stream and handle multichannel audio channel re-ordering and downmixing.
