Program to demux 5.1 channels

Postby JazzyDJ » Sat Jun 20, 2009 4:20 am

Anyone know of a program just like AC3Tools Pro that will get me the center channel of a 5.1 surround sound audio out of a DVD? I'm extracting the vocal dialog from the background noise/music (DVD Acapellas) and the trial of AC3Tools Pro just went up and you can't even buy it anymore because the website's link is obsolete. So I'm thinking maybe there are newer alternatives.

Any reccomendations or ideas?

Does Audacity handle 5.1 audio?

This is also relevant to my interests. I've ripped a DVD with a 5.1 segment and want to analyze the different streams, but Premiere (CS3) doesn't like the 6channel ac3 file I demuxed or the 6channel wav - it's fine with importing the 2channel wav though. :?

disregard... there's a preset in BeSweet to do ac3 -> 5.1DDWAV and by going with the normal command line ac3->wav settings and replacing 2ch with 6ch I managed to get all the channels pulled apart into separate tracks.

Does it tell you which one is center, left, right etc? The center channel is all I really need. I might have to give BeSweet a try.

It names all 6 (C, FR, FL, SR, SL, LFE)... The last one (the sub channel) i can't seem to get any sound from with this method though - i'm not sure if that's normal or not.

I'll check it out. I also found this. It's called DVD Audio Extractor. It will rip the audio directly from the DVD and save it to whatever you want. But if you do the 6 channels, they are not labeled by postion. They are numbered.
