Vegas 8 Trouble

Postby 12Miso » Sat Sep 06, 2008 2:31 am

I'm sorry if this type of thread has been posted before but I cannot seem to find any kind of information regarding this. Recently I've been having the urge to stop making gaming frag videos and make AMVs, after watching a few good ones; with a year (and maybe more) of Vegas 8, Particle illusion, After Effects in my hands I thought I could try some out for myself; however whenever I attempt to start editing I face a problem in which I have to convert my .mkv files into any other recognized file for Vegas 8, such as .avi. However after doing so and converting to .avi file, my Sony Vegas 8 will not recognize my video, however the audio works perfectly. In other words when I drag in a file into my Vegas 8 editing window/timeline, all I get is a layer for audio in which resides the sound from the anime episode I wanted to cut a bit and edit for a part in my AMV. Is there any solution to this? I've looked all over google.

Convert those .mkvs to a .avi in a lagarith or HuffyUV codec. The problem right now, is that those files are DivX/XviD, and editing programs dont like those codecs. Since I'm too lazy to find links... Download AMVApp, and use VDubMod to convert.
Oh, and next time, buy the DVDs. :)

And I'm sure someone else will give you those links.

Download the AMVapp here. And for more information on the DivX/XviD matter, you might want to read this.

The only thing however that installed successfully is the DVD Decrypter, is that proper?
