No comment. But, since I did mistakenly wreak havoc in this topic, I suppose I should actually give a real answer.
I've used FCE (which I won't comment on), Premiere, and Vegas to edit with in the past, and I own both Premiere CS3 and Sony Vegas 7 (and I use 8 at work) . I started out using Premiere 1.5, but my personal preference is Vegas. It just feels like an overall smoother experience to me than Premiere. I've always thought Premiere felt a little clunky, especially when dealing with effects. Not that the effects in Premiere are worse, mind you; it just seems like Vegas is easier to deal with to me. From what I can tell, I think Vegas uses less system resources as well, which is nice.
One thing I do like in Premiere over Vegas is the ability to nest timelines within a single project. You can achieve a similar effect in Vegas by nesting projects within projects, but having to create separate projects is just more of a hassle than simply having multiple timelines (sequences) in one project.
I'd actually have to say that it's a pretty close race between the two of them as far as functionality goes. I just prefer the workflow in Vegas.
... yea ...
