Windows explorer crash with new clips

Postby Ravensoldier22 » Thu May 15, 2008 6:37 pm

So, I'm gathering clips in vdub for use in windows movie maker...

I've noticed that after I save a clip, when I try to go to where I put it using windows explorer, it will crash

The only solution I've had work is to import the clip right after I save it, and play the clip at least once. It's worked so far, but I was wondering why this happens

if anyone knows, enlighten me

for the sake of clarity, I'm using the huffy codec when saving the clips, and there's no audio stream, and each clip is about 4-less than a second long

:D

Your computer is too weak to handle huffy files. Happens to me with Uncompressed when I save something in Uncompressed >_<. Try saving it in a external hard drive maybe =/ or get more RAM

not really, most video players can't handle lossless or uncompressed files. They're damn huge, and they're meant for editting with, not playing.

well, I've never had to play them outside of an editor

it just happens when I open up the folder that they're in, if I haven't imported them

That usually just means you have a conflict with decoders that results in explorer crapping out. Make sure you have your decoder options correctly set so 2 or more codecs aren't both trying to decode the same thing at the same time.

you go into the ffdshow settings and uncheck every codec you already have on your computer
