How to mask / erase subtitles

Postby Bunkaru » Sat Feb 23, 2008 9:24 am

Hello.

Could someone explain how to get rid of subtitles in subbed episodes, please ?
Someone told me to change to widescreen (4:3 to 16:9) but it didn't work for me.
I use Windows Movie Maker and Virtual Dub Mod.

How about using the DVDs?

Aside from that, cropping 4:3 to 16:9 is quite easy in virtualdubmod. Granted, you'll be most likely dealing with 640x360, and if you're already dealing with compressed source, then it's unlikely you're going to be able to upscale it to meet the standards of the org...

Bluntly put, DON'T USE FANSUBS. USE DVD FOOTAGE.

Or at the very least, dear god use high quality raws.

Excuse me, but I think D.Gray-Man 70+ Eps are not gonna come out on DVDs tomorrow <_< (Neither will the other Anime I currently use to make AMVs).

I'd love to use HQ RAWs but unfortunately I don't find any RAWs at all on Google, and I dunno any other other place where I could find them, since some dude told me that asking for downloads is a banable offense or whatever~

you could order the Japanese DVD release disks they encode them differently than in the us and usually end up with better quality footage

by "converting the aspect ratio" your friend really meant "crop off the bottom of your video" so that it looks widescreen... however DVDs > Fansubs O:

HD capture > DVD atm unfortunately >< (Unless it's merely upscaled of course)

Can't wait for anime in true HD/Bluray releases ...mm....

most "HD Captures" you can find on the interwebs are just upscales

upscales = fail
