DEP crashing VDubMod

Postby Eemyokah » Fri Feb 22, 2008 10:55 pm

I couldn't find any other topics on this particular problem, and since it's not strictly video related I decided to put it here.

I have run VirtualDubMod in the past with no problems, but today it started having problems. It will work as long as I don't try to open any videos, and just a short while ago I got a message that DEP is whats shutting it down. I haven't modified/added anything to it recently, and am confused as to why it is now having errors. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or had any ideas why it's suddenly affected.

Thanks, E

first, try re-installing vdubmod

if that doesn't work, then try looking through avisynth's plugins directory.
Remove any duplicate plugins, and any duplicate masktools.dll that you find (having more than one can cause vdub/mod to crash.)

The exception to this is that you can have 1 masktools.dll and 1 mt_masktools.dll at the same time

if vdubmod still doesn't work, take all of the plugins out of avisynth's plugins folder
make a simple script (just load some video) and start moving the plugins back into the plugin folder one by one (close vdub/mod each time and re-open)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Execution_Prevention

"DEP can be configured by using the System dialog box in Control Panel."

Please check that it is set to "opt-in". That should be the default setting. If it is set to opt-in, try turning it off and see if that helps. I don't really recommend leaving it off though,

Thank you for the help. VDubMod appears to work now...except when accessing certain folders, but that's a different issue I'll have to solve.
