Ok, I'm a noob and I registered(in part) just to get my question answered. Is there a quality degradation just by running a video through VirtualDubMod? I have searched a couple different strings in the forum and couldn't find my specific issue. I have read and experienced personally that VDM doesn't load perfect quality vid but that is just a preview anyway. Unfortunately I have seen it carry over to my output.
I am trying to use some form of compressed AVI and so I use DirectShowSource in my AVS and Trim to make a clip. Ok, as expected not so pretty. I export to a Lagarith file. This is where I notice that my quality has indeed gone down. I open the original in MediaPlayerClassic and the quality is already super to the naked eye. I open my AVS in MPC and don't really see much difference if at all(its not like I can put them side by side because MPC will only allow one window). I then load my Lag file and it looks just as distorted as it does in VDM. Since my AVS doesn't look this bad I can only assume the problem lies with VDM. If it was just a matter of my original being bad I would just compensate as best I could and move on, but this makes me rethink my whole process. Has anyone else noticed this or is there something I need to do differently?
BTW, before you mention it I already have VDM set to "use output settings"
