I changed a setting in my Options and checked the box next to "Windows Media File" under the Formats tab, and while that lets MPC play .wmvs SOMEtimes, other times I'll open a video that worked fine once and all I'll see is a black or grey screen. So, instead I have to use Real Player to play my .wmvs.
Is there any way to fix this? (This probably has something to do with FFDshow or something, right?)
How is ffdshow set up (and how old is it)? Which WMV format is the video in?
I try to keep up with the latest ffdshow-tryouts build, and have WMV1/7, WMV2/8, WMV/9, and WVC1 all set to libavcodec, and there's not any time worth noting that I've had problems with it not decoding properly. I don't, however, have Windows Media files associated with MPC, but do use MPC to play them out of habit and because seeking actually works like it should there.
Also, under Options->Tweaks, is MPC set to use the WM ASF Reader or not? On mine it is enabled (which I believe is the default).
