AMV playback on my new 22" widescreen LCD

Postby live4eva_2 » Sun Sep 30, 2007 10:31 am

Hi I'm looking for some advice.

I just got myself a Samsung 22" widescreen LCD(2ms response)...A big improvement over my 17" crt!!

Anyways so what I noticed is,my games and movies run beautifully ,but when I watch AMVs there are horizontal lines flashing between the images...
I'm using VLC player and have tried a number of combinations of aspect ratio&resolution....but I cant seem to eliminate those lines.

Suggestions? What settings do you other 22"widescreen owners use?

.. update your drivers for your Video Card. ^_^

.. 22" normally has a 1440 X 900 limit; one of the reasons why I updated my drivers.

.. XP and Vista can handle Plasma Dimensions like 16:10 with no issues.

.. ?? Plasma ? 16 X 10 ? ... ever heard of a series called VanDread ? those was its size.

sounds like you're seeing interlacing
if it is interlacing, then VLC should have some options to reduce it. (It won't be completely eliminated, but it should look a bit better)

Ive tried all the deinterlacing settings(blend,x,mean, linear) but it doesnt help!
Maybe the GPU..Ive got a Chaintech 8800GTS 320mb.
When you say update the GFX drivers, do you mean update Nvidia's ForceWare?

Have you tried the different output modules? Under Video in Preferences select Output Modules and make sure the advanced options box is checked. Try selecting either DirectX video output or OpenGL video output.

Long Version:
So I have tha same problem with my 22'' monitor, but strangely when I resize or crop the Video in VLC to 16:9 those strange lines are gone...and it's not interlacing!!!
So the problem does not show up in WMP, meaning Koop is right, obey him!!
