As for the question for a recommended editor - this was asked like a zillion times, browse this forum a little bit.

And regarding the WMM crashes - take a look at the WMM FAQ at the top of the WMM board. Most likely you are trying to edit with XviD/DivX files. If so, your problems will probably persist with a different editor, because nearly no editor likes it.

Adobe Premier Elements is good if you're on a budget.

Premeire, Magix and Vegas are the most recommended programs that i see, with a little bit of Ulead and Pinnacle thrown in here and there :/

Wrong. Real men edit in Blender/3DSMAX.

Real women have sex with each other.

The community has the most support for Premiere, however if you need cheap and effective, I think Magix Pro 11 is like... 60? Seems to me they even had a rebate for it a while back that made it free.

Blender, Avisynth, and virtualdub. Real men don't spend money on AMVs.

Animate your own stuff, using free image programs like <strike>photoshop</strike> Gimp, MSPaint, and another variaton on MSpaint I forget the name of that's free and can do a beautiful job if the user knows what he's doing.

for the MAC is AVID 3.0 or newer - hands down ... Avid

for windows AiST ... either Media Mania TV Pro -or- Extreme 4.0 -- hands down ... AiST

for making things the old fashioned way, Asymetric's Video Producer 5 ... cheep but effective.

However ... never use any of these for the Final Encode!!! N-E-V-E-R!!! ... these are editors -- not finishers!

... Anyone who see this list will agree; most of these were quite cheap when released:
Asymetric's Video Producer 5 $39.95
Media Mania TV Pro - AiST ... $49.95
AiST Video Extreme 4.0 custom builds -- $54.99
Avid Studio Progressive Editors $1499.95
