It all depends on what the resolution, is on the actual original source of the video, for example if you rip a Video which is originaly 640x480 it will look much better than stretched to 720X480. The fundimental reason for is: 1. You Have to re-encode the video (which loses some info) and 2. When you stretch you will lose the quality like with anything else. But not so much the same with TV (My opinion), If you have, say for example a 720x576 (fullscreen) 4:3 video and watch it on any 4:3 AR Television. You will notice that every side is trimmed (about 80 off the width and height). but if you have a video with the resolution at 640x480, you will see the entire video footage without the trimmed edges, although when playing it on the Computer, there will appear black bars (well theoretically). It all comes down to the software you use. Sorry if i dont make any sense
