huge amv file...how to condense?

Postby Cagbagger » Fri Dec 06, 2002 2:13 am

i'm currently making an amv right now, and it's over 500 mb, and not yet finished. i know that most amv's are no bigger than 70 megs or so, but i'm extracting files from fansubbed material that are like ~200 megs per file. I'm using adobe premier 6.0, but i can't figure out how to make this file smaller so i can share it. Right now i'm using the DV-NTSC Standard 48 kHz setting, but i'm still getting huge files. any suggestions on how to reduce the size? or what setting is recommended to use? thanks

You might want to consider compressing it with Xvid or Divx. Then there's also MPEG-1.

Have a look at the guides on the main site for more help.

500 MB is perfectly normal for the DV-NTSC setting. That should be about 120-150 seconds of video. A typical AMV in a DV-AVI file will be over 1 GB in size.

1. Get an mpeg encoder *cough* tmpgenc and convert it into an mpeg file
2. Get virtual dub and go to compression under video and choose DivX or Xvid ( note you have to download the codecs first, I sorry I can't help you there I forgot where I downloaded it. )
3. If you're low on webspace use wmv ( windows media file ) or .rm ( realmedia ) (, although many people don't like this, resulting in less downloads, but lets not get into that there's plenty of other forums debating on that topic )

As a last resort

I hoped that helped
