ok... this may sound wierd... but I am trying really hard to enable DTS and AC3 in the conventions I handle.
And I won't do it unless I know I can do it right.
my current setup is this
NS2K Analog out -> Mackie Mixer (stereo input)
VCR -> Mackie Mixer (stereo input)
CD/Tape player -> Mackie Mixer (stereo input)
4 microphones -> Mackie Mixer (mono input)
(idealized portion based on con equipment)
Mackie Mixer -> Sound cleaner -> crossover (2 channel -> 4 channel LR+bass) -> amps
this works VERY well for stereo AMVs... which is 99.9999% of the amvs that have been created. so what ever I do can not be worse audio quality for stereo AMVs than this... becasue i will not hurt the majority just to help the minority...
what I can do is use the digital output of the NetStream2000 to carry a DTS/AC3/PCM signal to an external decoder...
now the problem... hwo to find a good decoder... here is the problem...
one singal might be stereo and the next 5.1 DTS
I still need to mix in all the other inputs (VCR, mics, and the cd-player)
and all the other fixings...
I know how to build a good system for 5.1 AMVs... and I know how to build a good system for 2.0 AMVs... but i have yet to find a good system that can handle both... with out having to constantly swap cables and press buttons to switch modes....
it must be seamless
any idea?
