You need a video card with S-Video or composite out, or you can get a DV500 with the breakout box and output to tape that way.

Really you don't need an S-Video but you do need a captuer card. I use a firewire to run to my camera and then run taht to the VHS. Some programs even have options to capture the video straight to VHS for you or you can find a program to do that.

Technically there needs to be some physical connnection with the computer and the VCR.

You can do the S-Video/Video-out route, some cards come with outputs specifically for hooking up to a VCR or TV, you can also do wired nights thing and go through a camera. Another solution which is used by quite a few is to turn your video into a VCD or SVCD and play it back on a DVD player, then record the output to a VCR.

I use a cheapie ATI wonder card. It gets the job done.

If you know how to install anything to your free slots, you know how to install this. Then just hook up the wires...add some black and play record....

But I like Klinky's vcd idea best. That's a pretty fast and easy way I can't do until I get a vcd reading dvd player. Which by the way, most APEX dvd players read vcds and the cheapest cost 59 bucks.
