Getting In The Groove Songs on Comp...

Post by SpLiF_3d » Sun Dec 04, 2005 1:38 pm

simple enough question....

much like ddr...the music of the recent dance game, In the groove, is something i would like to listen to on my comp/ipod/edit with and such.

Can anyone help me to rip the audio files from this particular game?
I have done so with DDR (ps2) games but it is not the same process because ddr discs have .bin files whereas in the groove has .pck files. so the same method will work...which was using "vb2rip"

Any help appreciated in advance.

Did you try the other format options of VB2Rip? It's possible that Roxor doesn't store its songs with the VB2 format like Konami does.

oops...thats what i meant to say....
so the same method will work...which was using "vb2rip"
*will NOT work

yeah...when you run vb2rip w/o parameters...it gives a list of supported formats and the .pck file format is not recognized.

this is a command line program...so is there a way around that?...im not all that proficient in DOS.

are there any other programs or options....?

i have read that some ppl use audio cables connected to the console to the pc for a direct recording method... :? but this is something i can't do. :(

vb2rip.txt wrote:Options:
-fmt format Specify the input file format

[...]

Supported input formats:
Format Description
------------------------------------------------------------
raw Raw data (for experimentation)
vb2 Konami multi-song .BIN/.VB2 file (Dance Dance Revolution, etc.)
8 .8 file (Suikoden)
msa .MSA file (Psyvariar, possibly other PS2 games)
xa2 .XA2 file (Extreme-G 3, possibly other PS2 games)
If you were ripping the songs from a .BIN off one of the Dance Dance Revolution games, you would specify "-fmt vb2" (I've done it with three of them so far). What I was asking upthread was, have you tried ripping the .PCK files with a format other than VB2 specified? .PCK may just be a container like .BIN, inside which all the songs and images and such are hidden -- it may not be the actual audio format.

i have just tried using all the other format options....

msa xa2 & raw

but to no avail...i now understand what you meant.....
hmmm...i'm wondering if i have the wrong .pck file......
there were 4 files on the games disc that were around or above 500mb which was the same filesize for the .bin file from the ddr games so i'll have to try it with each one of those....

each of the above mentioned formats created a single .wav file with no data that was only a few kilobytes in size....i'm not sure if this info will help with further analysis.....

thanks again... :)

ok...after trying all the format options with all the .pck files...no solution was found....

if you have any more words of wisdom.....that'd be cool

if not just lemme know what you think....

i might just have to wait for some hacker to crack it and for the word to get spread so i can google it.... :P

Well, if you can get to an arcade machine, those are just Debian GNU/Linux boxes.

That simplifies things quite a bit.
