Ok, I have encoded about five of my videos into avi's that use IMA ADPCM as an audio codec and have them up on the site. I have finally realized that I should be using MPEG Layer-3, since not everybody's computer can play IMA ADPCM, and MPEG Layer-3 is supposed to do a better job anyway.
But now the problem is, I no longer have uncompressed versions of the audio. I have used voice-overs and such and have deleted the source files I used for them. Is there any way I can just stick my video in VirtualDub, make a direct stream copy of the video, and convert my audio to a different codec? I don't know how I would go about doing this... any tips?
I want to convert my already compressed audio

Install Divx 3.11a or get the Lame ACM codec(yahoo, hint hint).
Take the file into virtualdub.
Click video|direct steam copy
click audio|full processing mode
click audio|compression
.. look for MPEG Layer-3
... or look for Lame MP3
44khz 128Kbit Stereo should be pretty good you can choose a higher bitrate if you want.
If you can't get a higher bitrate then 56kbits, then reboot your computer and install Divx 3.11a again or install the Lame ACM codec.
After you have it setup, goto File|Save as AVI...
Shouldn't take more then a couple minutes.
You won't lose any video quality doing this and your audio will become compressed.
Gargh and here are some links.
