AMVfreak wrote:Ok, well here's my breakdown of what I gave you earlier.Use PSXMC for VII and IX. Download PSXMC and open the PSXMC folder. Double click and execute PsxMC.EXE. No installation is required. Read the Help Files on how to work this program.
I highly recommend you do not download FFX footage, and rather rip high-quality videos for yourself. Use FFX2mov linked above- this is an easy tool to work with, very simple.
This is not required for any FF ripping except for X-2. You do not need these for 8,9, and 10.I have the following downloaded
DVD2AVI
Extractor 2.4
The File Spliter
This is because installation is not required. (Read above.)PsxMC isnt workin...it didnt even instail.....at lest i think it is PsxMC

But if its not too much could you just act like i'm 12 and explain how to use it (I'm not as bad as a 12 year old)

Sure, ok. I got some time on my hands.
PSXMC:
1) Double click PSXMC.exe and launch the program.
2) Something to this nature should come up:
3) Load up your game disc (in this case, FF8 or FF9) into your CD/DVD drive. I'll be using FF8 Disk1 as an example.
4) Once you've loaded the game disc click Open and Analyze CD-ROM in the bottom portion of psxmc:
5) This should pop up:
Select This CDAZ is Adopted, and the FF8Stream plugin should automatically be recgonized for the disc. (FF9Stream plugin recgonized when FF9 discs are put in accordingly.)
6)The lovely STR files should load now.
7) Now go to PSXMC Options... on the right bottom corner area of the program interface, and then go to To AVI settings.
From here, you will want to select a lossless codec, such as HuffYUV, uncompressed, lagarith, etc. If you do not need audio ripped, deselct Audio under the codec option. Make sure to also choose a AVI output path to where you want to place the ripped movies.
8) Now that you got the settings done, press OK and click Start Convert...
When this is complete, you should have lovely video files awaiting in your output paths.

Everytime I've tried it, it only rips up until the point that the gunblade lands in the ground...it won't rip past that.AMVfreak wrote:?devilmaykickass wrote:I reccommend PSmplay over PsxMC because PsxMC won't rip some stuff correctly (such as the FF8 opening FMV). =/
I beg to differ. I prefer PSXMC over PSMplay due to its features. And I had no problem whatsoever ripping the FF8 opening AMV in PSXMC- it may be due to an individual problem occuring in your computer?
Also, I've been testing PS1 footage with different codecs and rippers for awhile now, years actually, and PsxMC loses data and gives you weird artifacts, and overall, a crappy result before and even WORSE after you compress, far crappier than PSmplay. Want proof? Observe:
Here's a rip with PSmplay:
Now heres a rip with PsxMC:
Just looking at his nose alone you can see all this weird crap and picture errors. PsxMC does that. PSmplay is free of these. Try them both and compress them, and then you can see even more of a difference...it's pretty bad if you use PsxMC really.
If you're too lazy to do stuff yourself and get a far better result anyway (because using those features, that aren't all that great anyway, just make PsxMC ruin the film worse), then I guess those features are nice. But really, they're just making things worse when you use them.
I mean, go ahead and use PsxMC if you want because of a few features that make you think it's better....trust me, it's not...which is probably why 99% of FF videos look so horrible.
