Two different questions.

1) If you can wait a few weeks/months, you should be able to get Premiere 6.5 bundled with editing packages for well under $500. If you rreally must have it RIGHT NOW, look for a Pinnacle DV 200 package w/ full Prem. 6.0 on pricewatch. you can find it for 230-250, I think.

2) Read ErMaC's guide, specifically chapter 5.

Wait, so your actually saying that you payed 500 dollars for Premiere!?
Or if you dont have it, what do you use to make AMVs?

Let me be as clear as possible about this. I bought THIS for about $250, 10 months ago.

That's the cheapest way I could find a legit, full copy of Premiere, since I'm not a student.

Clear enough?

Heh, now I'm about to shell out another $150 for the upgrade to 6.5

I wish I'd gotten started using it earlier than 7 weeks ago, but stuff happens in life.

Premiere 6.5 isn't worth the extra 150 bucks. The only significant feature that I can see is the mpeg2 editing, which according to klinky's tests isn't as quick as the current avisynth method.

I'd stick with what you have and spend that 150 bucks on a HD or some source footage.

Thanks, AD. I've been reading all those other posts, and reevaluating my possible upgrade plans.

Premiere 6.5 should be called "All the crap that you can do for FREE, but integrated and slower!".

Well the Title Tool looks spiffy, so if you want spiffy titles and you haven't purchased something like TitleDeko or whatever that app is called then get 6.5 as it's a pretty l33t title tool(atleast it looks it).

Yes, the direct mpeg2 import seems to be really slow, maybe it's my computer, but I doubt it. I was really impressed with the realtime preview using AVISynth. BTW I have a 1.4Ghz Athlon XP.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THE BIG DEAL? Christ sakes, dumb newbies. We don't ALL pirate Premiere just because you did. (Although I did, and I'll admit to that, but I do not condone piracy anymore than these guys do.)

Nick, seriously, please tone down the venom and the profanity. There are forum rules against that kind of thing (remember the swear filter) and I don't thnk the mods will appreciate it, and I think it's also lowering everyone else's opinion of you. Regardless of whether or not the guy is a moron or a complete jerk or whatever, don't lower yourself to the level which you are. Try and be civil here.
