Help!!! [what do I need to make a video?]

Postby Mune » Tue Sep 02, 2003 7:50 pm

I need to know what software and hardware I need.

What we have:
I have a 96 Mb RAM w/ Windows 98 and 2GB of spare space on my Harddrive, plus, a CenDyne Lightning IV CD-RW. And my friend has a Windows XP with over 20GB of space and an unknown amount of RAM. We both have over 8GB of usuable clips. We have a few DVDs and loads of anime on VHS.

We need to know which computer to use and all that we need. We want to make a high quality music video for next year's Anime Iowa.
Thanks.

Also look at the rules:

no downloaded clips allowed

Also, you want more ram, 256+, it's so cheap nowadays there's no reason not to have as much as possible. Your 8 gig's won't get you too far if you're serious about amv making.

I wish that were the case. Now, ram in my area is about $35-40 for 64mb of RAM. I got barely any money to spare. I need some help on what is the best for the cheapest. Plus, the guides are suggestions. I don't even know where to find half of the stuff.

Okay,

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... m.php?f=27

Hopefully none of the items there are out of date. Also, you might want to do a search for the items on ebay. also, your local electonrics store should have plenty of equipment, if they don't, ask them if they will be willing to

as for ram, it depends on what type you want, but most ram should be pretty cheap. you might be looking at the newer ones.

You don't understand. I need to know the cheapest/best hardware to buy and use. I want effects(zoom in-out, inverting, different changing effects between scenes) Plus, the capture card(I don't know which one to buy)
I have fair experience with Window Movie Maker, but have no other experience. Plus, I need to figure out which anime is the best(other than Eva)

I have around $1000-$1500 for use(includes money for eva Perfect Collection and movies)

If you can help me, just give me some help(remember, I'm a newbie to computers and music video making)

For catpture, I would recommend ripping from dvds rather than capturing through a capture card. For software, the main one used is Adobe Premiere, but its quite expensive. There's lots of various software out there with free trials, try some out and see what you like. I'd recommend AT LEAST 20gb of free space for editing. I personally have about 60-80gb set aside for editing. I would also reccommend 512MB of ram, or 256mb at the least.
As for which anime is the best... geez... thats up to you, everyone has different tastes.

Do some fucking research!

Those links given to you are MORE than enough to get you going and start reading up on stuff on your own. If you have questions on specific capture cards, programs and their capabilites, feel free to ask, but fuck! Don't expect us to walk you through everything.
