Yes, you all can FINALLY stop bitching about RM and start using it. I've hooked you up with a true alternative to RealNetwork's software. Don't get me wrong, RealOne is fine software, and harmless (unlike earlier players), but for some reason a lot of people still bitch about the concept of having it installed.
So, I present to you two installers.
Real's Codec package which is usually only installed with RealOne. The person who packaged these thought it would be a good idea to include Gabset's Media Player Classic since that can play back Real files. Don't install this, you won't need it, and it just sets a bunch of needless registry keys. Just install the RealMedia Codecs.

The second installer is a filter for playing RealMedia back through directshow. This allows you to watch RealMedia in directshow players like Windows Media Player, use RealMedia as a directshowsource in avisynth, and mux RealMedia into new containers like Matroska with graphedit. The installer also includes Matroska playback filters.
Thanks to AD who taught me the l33t ways of NSIS over visual basic and helped me figure out how to make this installer.

With these two installers combined, you can get rid of RealOne (or never get to begin with) and watch Real files.
See this threadon doom9 for more information about Real, including how to encode.
Here is an example you can use to test of RealVideo and RealAudio in the Matroska container.

And as a point of comparison, take a look at the best alternative, XviD and Vorbis (if you don't already have ogg vorbis installed get it here)

Also, a mixed combination of the above would be XV_RA.mkv(formerly known as 1.mkv :p ) and RV_OG.mkv(2.mkv). But they're the same as the above, just with switched audio. Don't get them if you don't need, my host is really slow.
There you have it folks.
