editing video in photoshop

editing video in photoshop

how do you import video into photoshop so you can rexport it out onto your time line? if so what type of file do you need to make the video clip so it can be imported. ive seen it done i just dont know how.

You open the movie in virtualdub and you can copy by using 'ctrl+1' to copy the source frame to the clipboard and paste in photoshop. You can also have vdub save a frame sequence (warning, large, ~same size as uncompressed video) of all or part of the clip.

You can export a film strip from Premiere and import that into Photoshop. It's a pain in the ass to edit though. I wouldn't reccomend it:|

i think that's what the other guy that told the guy that made this thread meant. Premiere just exports the movie frame by frame into this giant Photoshop file.

it's used mainly for rotoscoping, most notably Star Wars lightsabers. Those puppies are drawn in frame by frame by a guy who gets paid to do it. It's painstaking and takes a few mins short of forever; but it's worth it.
