Options for non-US released anime

Postby rhkaloge » Mon Jun 16, 2003 7:59 am

So watching fansubs of Azumanga gave me some ideas for videos, but seeing as I'd have to wait probably a year for the whole thing to be released stateside, and wanting to make my video NOW NOW NOW! <ahem> I'm trying to find the best way to get the footage. The obvious ones seem out:
Fansubs - quality=BLEH!
HK Imports off Ebay - er, ain't going there
Japanese DVD - don't have anything to play them on, unless someone knows a way to turn a computer DVD drive regionless (PC or MAC).

Anyone know other options?

Thanks;
Skippy

Smartripper can make the DVDs region free when you rip them. There are also ways to make region 2 discs playable in your drive, don't ask me though...

Actually, maybe smartripper can't do that... but you can use IFOedit on the ripped dvd to make it regionfree I know.

smartripper and dvddecrypter both remove regional encoding, but you need to get your drive to like them first.
