VJ Software

Postby WilLoW :--) » Tue May 06, 2003 2:45 pm

Does anybody know some good VJ (errr... Video Jockey ?) software under Windows that would be able to play videos (such as AMVs...) and making transitions in real time ?

I mean some software that would be, for example, able to play a playlist of AMVs and making crossfades in real time beetween these AMVs...

I know that this kind of stuff is possible under macOS X, using openGL, but I would like to know if something like that exists for windows...

If not, does somebody know if it is even possible to imagine that such a thing could work in real time under windows (is it worth learning openGL or Direct3D or is such an application a dream that will never be possible ?)

Thanks

No there isn't any software that is free. I did a VJ party last year about this time for a party using amv's...my solution was two computers with video out and an analog video fader, which didn't cross disolve, only fade to black then fade in the other source. I searched far and wide for such a program. Someone could probally wirte a DirectX plugin to do it. But I don't know any who can. If you do find something tell me, i havne't looked since last year for anything.

Quu's MCIPlayer will do playlists of MPEG files to Hollywood+ and Netstream TV-out cards. I don't think it transitions, but the source is available, so...if you like to write code...

You can find it here:
